2000 - The new millenium also was a change in my relationship to the Rubettes. 15.01.2000 I think, this date I will never forget. On that day I was at the gig of the gigs in the Beat-Club Leipzig-Mölkau. And it was never to be the same. The information and tickets I had from other fans. This day I also met for the first time my faithful friend Heike, we had only corresponded for 4 months. This time it wasn't by accident that we stayed in the same hotel. The concert took also place there. Immediately after my arrival at the hotel that afternoon I heard TONIGHT. I thought, what a great start. Then I saw the guys on stage for the sound check. At first I only recognised Alan and Mick. Bill and Alex were missing. But then, I could hardly believe my eyes, wasn't there John. I always had the wish to be at one of these reunion concerts, should I be lucky this time? It didn't take long until the sound check was finished. In the meantime I had introduced myself to my friend. We were very excited when Alan came to say hello. During the conversation we learnt that Alex and Bill had left the band and John returned instead and also a new one, Mark. A bit sad, but also excited about the new line up, the evening started. The concert was very impressing. It was finally a bit different, different songs, new outfit. I liked the Rubettes like that. Afterwards they dedicated autographs. Unfortunately they still distributed the old autographs. I waited patiently until the last one had their autograph. Then I asked Mick whether I could have a photograph taken with all of them and me. John and Mark made immediately space. So I sat there. It was very narrow and I didn't know exactly how to get out of there again. But then Mark started straight away talking to me and he didn't stop for the rest of the night. He was so natural and nice, just as Rubettes fans are. We had much fun that night, but unfortunately even the most wonderful night ends one day. The only comfort was that two weeks later they were to play in my home town. 29.01.2000 Spoilt by the beautiful concert in Leipzig the gig in Erfurt was one big disappointment for me. Not that the concert would have been bad, but there were that many Securities, who were really stubborn. It was absolutely impossible to get through to the guys, only a short hello while they distributed autographs. After an hour of waiting and trying in vain I finally had given up hope. And there he was, Mark. Suddenly he stood there and tried to find a quiet corner in backstage, which wasn't easy. He didn't have much time, but enough to exchange addresses. And that way my correspondence with a Rubetter started. During this year there were more concerts to come. And I was every time glad when the guys remembered me and addressed me with my name.
