I have to admit that back in the 70's I felt like many teenagers at the time, Alan was my ideal man and that although I basically didn't know anything about him but his name.
Only through the Rubettes Story, which also published biographies of each member, I learnt a lot about him. Back then I was mostly impressed by the fact that he is a pilot and has his own plane. Well, in the meantime I know, that it's got not only its advantages, but also very costly.
On the occasion of the recording 'Musik für Sie' I had the chance to have dinner with the guys. There Alan explained to me in detail all the necessary things for one single flight. Well, it's definitely beyond my budget. Besides he introduced me in the art of wines. Rubettes fans know that Alan is a big fan of wines and has a considerable wine cellar.
Nevertheless, my biggest dream would be, to fly once with Alan in his plane. He is said to be an excellent pilot.
